where to buy o2 simulator?

Did anyone ever release a stand alone o2 simulator for the Evo?

I need one because I might be getting a JDM exhaust (without the o2 bung on the rear section of the exhaust), so I need an o2 simulator that's not connected with a test pipe or cat. I found a thread with a DIY simulator,

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ight=simulator

But it looks a tad sketchy.

Anyone?

MalibuJack found one here:

But I'm not sure if that works for us (GM wiring?)

Cool, did you get the "imports /w one sensor"?

Also, how do you install this simulator? Is this one that you wire up to the ECU?

i just got one from buschur, but you still have to run the rear 02 sensor. it just splices inline. why not just have an 02 bung welded on? does anyone know why we cant just run an 02 simulator and unplug the 02 sensor?

I wish I could just ziptie the sensor to the frame and forget about it. Stupid o2 sensor.

Yeah, anyone have details on the install of the simulator?

I am looking to get one. The one on the link that someone got looks like it jsut plugs into something and you can totally do away with the on in the rear of the exhaust. I am looking to get a test pipe but I am worried about the Car going into Safe mode.

When you get a CEL for the rear o2 sensor it doesn't affect drivability. The car won't go into "safe mode", it'll just throw a CEL for the supposedly bad sensor.

Oh ok. Yah but that looks ghetto in a brand new car. LOL It doesn't effect AFR or anything?

Nope. Rear o2 is only for emissions, to see if the cat is working. Yeah I want a sim, I wouldn't just tie it to the frame, because then if you get a real CEL, you would never know...

DXL007, what Casper Electronics O2 SIM did you get? And did it completely replace the rear O2 sensor?

secondary O2 sensor removal

hi fellas.

i'm a mechanical engineer who is also a weekend road racer (NASA, EMRA, etc.). i run a Honda and a Mazda as my race cars, but recently purchased a 2003 EVO as my daily driver.... love it dearly so far!

anyway, i have begun a few of the small mods that seem appropriate to enhancing its "trackability". one was the removal of the cat for track events. well, of course, i got the damn SES light, and being the **** engineer i am, couldn't stand for that...

i currently have in testing for the last 4 weeks a simulator which has been performing perfectly. no SES lights at all. this would be about 1800 miles so far, including 2 track days.....

right now, it is "spliced" in, but i have been thinking of making it a direct "plug in" replacement for the secondary O2. basically, one would remove the secondary O2 and just plug this device into the socket and tuck it up into the hole that the O2 wiring comes through. end of installation! no wiring to do, etc....

anyone interested? i am kicking around the idea of manufacturing a batch of these and selling them (i was thinking of a pricerange of $50) to EVO owners who hate the idea of the SES light being on from the secondary O2 readings.....

thanx,

Todd Reid
