I'd buy it if it was a plug in definitely!

Be careful buying generic sensors for the EVO. We put a ton of work in them getting them to actually shut the light off in an EVO. The standard sensors that Summit and Jeg's sell won't keep the light off.

We do have them instock for $50.

... you could also just bite the bullet and get a wideband o2 setup that can feed the ECU on top of giving you A/F readings.

I ordered mine (Innovative LM-1) from http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/, price was $349 + shipping. You can also go with the AEM UEGO, which I believe is about the same price, but does not offer logging. There is a DIY kit from somewhere in australia as well, which is cheaper, and of course there are quite a few more expensive options ...

If you do a search for wideband o2 or lambda or any of the brands mentioned above, you should find a few folks that have run them for a while. I'm still waiting on mine, so I don't have any feedback on its accuracy yet...

A stock 02 sensor doesn't meaure air fuel ratios accurately that aren't close to 14.7:1. A wideband 02 sensor gives accurate AFR's from 10:1 to 18:1. They are used for tuning.
