Full race t4 twin scroll install advice
Full race t4 twin scroll install advice
Kind of a newbie to evo scene. Love my Evo 8, pretty much stock, normal bolt-ons - full catback exhaust, intake, grimmspeed ebc, and tuned. Just recently purchased a full race t4 twin scroll turbo kit. I attached picture to show what I got from deal. Was hoping to see what more I need to make this happen. Keeping boost relatively low - looking for about 500hp for daily driver. Was told I should get tial bov, walbro 255 fuel pump, larger injectors, and change clutch. Just wondering what others think. Also wondering bout what hoses/lines go where - going from one wastegate to two, found a diagram in forum but there is no fitting on my turbo for a line. Turbo by the way is GT40r88. Any help would be appreciated.
first off before you even try installing that turbo make sure you have a healthy motor. What fuel are you planning on using? E85 or just 93? From there you can build your fuel setup based on your goals and fuel you plan on using.
But I would suggest you go or contact an evo specific shop and tell them what you have and what are your goals. They should be be able to give you a better idea on what you need.

Motor is healthy - had timing belt break about 4000miles ago, took off head, sent to machine shop to get fixed, had valve job done, new valve guides, seals, etc. Replaced head gasket, water pump, timing components, did compression test afterwards, checked ok. Transmission is stock 5spd.
that set up for a DD is going to be interesting... those dumps make a ton of noise (maybe you like that)....
also.. im assuming your motor internals are stock.
you will have to keep the torque in check or you will break rods quick.
honestly... i wouldnt put that set up on a stock motor... but that just my opinion.

With that manifold I had to notch the front transmission mount where the outlet of the compressor housing would face pointing down. you might not have that issue if your turbo is physically smaller. I am also not sure if anyone else had that issue. Also you oil drain line will be very short and do your best to keep if from becoming kinked. Other than that it should install like any other kit assuming you have all of the supporting parts ie slim fans etc etc.
I would get a smaller turbo. That thing is going to be really laggy on a stock 2.0L Itnwould he really laggy on pretty much any Evo motor lol. An FP Red or Black would have been a much better choice for 450-500hp on 93 octane...
I thought I read on full race website about the motor mount issue. Thx for the info. Will make sure it clears. As for the lag, hope it's not too bad. My buddy had it in his stock block evo, felt pretty good. We will see what happens. Worse case it gives me an excuse to build the block 😉

Wow I thought the 35r was super laggy on a stock 2.0 , imo this will not be a very fun car with only 1.5k of rpms to play with. But... Bolt it on and lets see. Also, stock turbo, cammed guys like me will probably whomp on ya.
