Valve Stem to Guide Clearance Question

Hey guys I just finished my LR2.4 build. After 200 miles I started experiencing smoking on high rpm decel. Pulled the plugs and noticed oil on top of the pistons.

I had my local machinist rebuild the head during the build process and he said the guide to stem clearance was within spec. I personally installed the OEM stem seals with the plastic tool from euro export. I made sure the viton seals were on the exhaust side. Before I installed my Kiggly beehives I checked to see how much side to side play there was between the valve and guide and there was zero play.

After seeing the oil on top of the pistons I pulled the valve cover and none of the stems have popped off. How is so much oil getting on top of the pistons with brand new valve stem seals and zero play between the valve and guide? The valves and guides were not replaced when my machinist rebuilt the head and have about 30,000 miles on them. My compression is between 185-195 psi.

What is your ring gap and ptw clearance? If it's only under Decel id think rings. When under boost they will swell up and create a better seal. Under vacuum.. Not so much.

Bad rings will smoke all the time and will not build oil on top of the Pistons. Ptw is .0035" and top ring is .015" and second ring is .018".

Bad rings will smoke on deceleration. Bad valve seals will smoke on startup.

Your clearances sound very very tight... What Pistons? This may be your issue.
