Where did you pick up the BG Syncroshift? Did you have the 2nd gear grind before?

I can't shift into 4th fast either. But I can shift into 4th somewhat fast, but there is a slight grind. You just have to make it go. I don't like to do that though. I think I will give the BG Syncroshift a shot. If I can find out where to pick it up. I might try the underhood bushings too.

yeah I had wicked grind on any 1st to 2nd shifts above 6800 rpm pretty much. this is the absolute cheapest I have found it, http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclfluids.htm , 3qts for $29, I would also suggest changing your diff fluids while you're at it with Redline Heavy Duty Shockproof also sold there for $18 for 2qts, you will pretty much need all 3qts of the BG for the tranny and 1qt of the Shockproof for each differential, my I also suggest that you get hold of some Redline LSD additive for about $6 and add half of the bottle to the rear diff. Good luck this set up has worked wonders for me.

If you are having shifting problems then try adjusting your clutch rod that goes to the pedal so that when you start to push on the pedal the clutch take-up starts immediatly. I was having horrible sticking problems when shifting until I adjusted this rod tonight. I was suprised to find that I got rid of over an inch worth of take-up, and there is absolutely no more shifting problems. Just try it.

Look up under the dash where the clutch pedal connects to the clutch rod. You will see a threaded shft with a lock nut on it. Use a 12mm wrench to loosen the lock nut and them twist the rod so that it is moving the pedal out. As you are doing this keep pushing the pedal to see where the take-up is. As soon as you have about a 1/4 inch of movement before take-up begins tighten the locknut and you are done. It made a night and day difference on my car, it has NEVER shifted as smoothly as it does now, it is the biggest difference since I have had the car including removing the pill, stainless steel braided line, the original tranny fluid, Redline MT-90, Redline Lightweight Shockproof, GM syncromesh, and solid shifter bushings both at the tranny and in the shifter. Now with the syncromesh in there and the pedal adjusted it is perfectly smooth, just an unbelievable difference.

ok guys. I have had the same problem as you all before. The way that seemed to really help out with faster shifting is to really slam down the clutch as fast as you can while shifting. I am serisous about this. When in 3rd gear going to 4th, pull your foot up about a foot or so away from the pedal, then when you are ready to shift slam that foot on the clutch pedal, then shift fast like you would in a "normal' car. With more practice you will be able to just push down the clutch without lifting your foot up high. The main key is to put as much power on that pedal as fast as you can while shifting. It has helped me out with the slow and clumsy 1st-2nd and 3rd to 4th. Try it out, tell me how it works.

What you are doing by slaming it is to break the contact of the pressure plate from the clutch disk, this way you are getting rid of the "sticktion" between the two. I used to do the same thing, it works even better if you let the engine over rev past the shift some. However, if you adjust the clutch rod so that the pressure plate completely disengages from the disk you will not have to slam it any more. Trust me, just try it. It is so stupid simple, but I absolutely do not have to cajole the thing into shifting any more, and I swear that I heard my syncro's breathing a sigh of relief.

I missed 2nd gear about dozen times. Redline helped greatly when shifting above 7K compare to stock fluid. What I found out about my problem was that my hand is too quick. Everytime I shift fast and hard my hand would move the stick as I'm pressing the clutch than I can't get into 2nd. Just a slight movement of the stick before the clutch is pressed in completely, caused miss shifts. Now I trained myself to press the clutch in all the way than shift fast. Try not holding the stick and only touch it when you have pressed the clutch in to shift.
