4G63 Similarities?
4G63 Similarities?
Okay, now the evo doesnt have a true 4G63, if i'm correct they call it a 4g64. What i'm wondering is this: I own a 91 Laser and have been fighting idle problems for the entire winter. I finally got it sorted, but am wondering if new evo's will be prone to the same idle surge/rough idle/stalling that plagues just about every 4G63 ever produced. Did the engineers make any effort to try to stop this.
Does the evo have:
TPS Sensor?
ISC? (Idle Speed Controller)
I know its a dumb question to some, but when your machines start racking up the millage, will they succomb to DSM idle hell? So my question is has mitsubishi made any improvments to the 4G64 powerplant to side skirt these issues?
Peace.

You must be thinking of the 4-cyl Eclipses, as they are the ones equipped with the 4G64. This means that others will be able to answer your quesiton better, though, so I guess that the mix-up isn't really a bad thing.

4G64 is a 2.4L Bore if I remember right.

The only DSM/EVO with a 4G64 is the NT Spyder--not counting hybrid swaps

With an old car, especially with idle issue. Check your MAF for age and please don't do a honeycomb hack like most 1g DSM owners do to their cars.
The reason the EVO is famous is because of the 4G63. the only reason the eclipse's had any credability is because they shared a version of the 4G63 with the EVO.

I don't know what you are inferring.
DSMs are more closer to the Evo 3 but a tad better. The Evo 4-6, including TME and Zero fighter are closely related to each other and surpassing DSM in every which way. The same for the Evo 7-8, and 9 in the future.
Remember DSMs are compromised/watered down 4g63T to appease the American insurance market and cost effectiveness. When the DSM died to the 3g guys and the weight monster 3kGT VR4 passed away, Mitsu marketing people thought it would be wise to bring the Evo to the state w/ a 4g63T and take up the +30K market that was once the 3kGT. Long ago, I have predicted it, and the I was proven right with my observation of Mitsu conservative thinking for Americains.
