ACT HDSS to Exedy Twin is it worth it?

I was wanting to know if it is worth the upgrade? I dropped my trans the other day and was just going to replace the disc but might just change the clutch and flywheel.

No, change the disc to a sprung 6 puck and the flywheel to a prolite.

I was thinking about that also, just didn't know which route to go. I have to buy a new pressure plate tho due to my center hub (where the monoloc clip goes) is damaged and no one sells just the center piece. That's the only other reason I was going to find a n exedy twin.

depends on what you do with your car. daily just stock to the basics. full face sprung. at the most, xtss with the sprung full face disk.

I think streeting sprung 6 is acceptable. Depends how OP feels with the current clutch setup. Can you go harsher than what you currently have?

Absolutely no reason for a twin disk, or puck clutch on that setup. A fresh disk for the hdss will be fine. If you want it to hold more torque, go to an XTSS with the stiffer pressure plate and retain all of the driveability.

Xtreme pressure plate and streetable? Can't agree with that.

Clutch Flyhweel controls three things:

Flywheel: Rev rise / fall rate
Pressure Plate: Clutch Pedal Resistance
Disk: Engagement Characteristics

Personally, I can deal with a quicker disk better than a heavier pedal. I guess letsgetthisdone feels the opposite, he likes slower engagement and is willing to trade off a heavier pedal.

I've DD'ed a car with a sprung 4 puck, aluminum flywheel and HD pressure plate. Was terrible the 1st month, then it became normal until I sold the car. Was pretty fun too.

i ran an HDSS forever @ 400whp, but i don't drag race. it was plenty streetable and the pedal was only slightly heavier. loved it.
i had a spring break in a sprung disc, lately, so this time i went with a solid hub (i don't daily the car) and i went with a 6-puck so i could keep the HD pressure plate (i built the bottom end and didn't want to worry about WTQ limits). the extreme pressure plate is hard for me on the road course. well, it's not hard.. but i don't like the extra effort while i'm trying to downshift.
the clutch engages just fine for me (maybe i'm used to it) and i don't have the crazy heavy clutch pedal to deal with.
just my preference, though.
for your application, another sprung disc will be perfect unless you drag race a lot and aren't very good at launching.
just my opinion, though.

The pressure plate is heavier, but the Evo already doesn't have the lightest pedal for a street car. It's really not that bad. Compared to my daily, yes, its very stiff. But a 2500lb plate vs a 2900 or 3000lb plats is really not that big of a difference at the pedal...

You have a HD PP and a Sprung or Unsprung 6?

Thanks for all the replies. I got one more question. What if I decide to build it up to let's say 400 to 500 ft lbs. Would you still go with that clutch? Only reason I'm saying that is because pulling that transmission out was a pain in the ***. I was thinking just go ahead and upgrade now.

ACT lists their torque limits on the website. It's not wheel torque numbers, so account for that.

You are getting up into multi-disc territory, though.
