Head Question

I blew my head gasket and took my head to the most popular local machine shop to have it resurfaced and the valves were sticking out far enough that they couldn't resurface it without lifting them so we worked out a price for them to go ahead and install my S3 cams and Kiggly springs and clean the head.

The guy at the machine shop said while he's going to have everything apart I can order different valves for him to put in without having to pay anything extra or he can just inspect and reface my stock valves.

Is there an advantage to using aftermarket valves on a stock head with no porting and polishing? Is there anything else I should check on having done while I have everything apart? I can't spend the money right now for a full port and polish from one of the big shops but was wondering if there is anything beneficial and worth the money to have done that's a bit more affordable. I know I have read people mention bowl work?

Head Question

Some people say the stock valves can sometimes break with stuff springs like the Kiggly's. Lots of guys have run them for a long time without issue. I would just run the stock valves..

I believe the stock valves stay cooler being sodium filled vs SS valves. Either way you'll be fine.

OK. Cool. Thanks. I guess there is no point in going with different valves then. I was just trying to figure things out because he might be able to finish it today if I use the stock valves so I needed to let him know whether to proceed that way or to wait for me to order valves or anything else.
