Evo 8 bell housing leak????

I have a evo 8 gsr. I currently launched my evo and cracked the bell housing that attaches to the transmission. The Crack is on the inside and leaked out gear oil. So my question. Is which housing would I be able to replace it with. Or should I just replace the transmission

Well the bell housing does not retain fluid so I am a bit confused. Do you mean the gear box case? Also, what other symptoms are you having since launching it? Was it still drive able and went into every gear? Did it completely grenade?

Yes I am aware it does not contain fluid. But on the inside has a Crack to where the gear oil has leaked out. The car still drove and shifted fine as I had it towed home. I checked the entire trans and did not see anything. I took off the plug under and checked it as fluid was coming out. Then noticed the Crack as o shined a light inside

So it went into all gears and drove perfectly fine? It did not make any noise while driving? Either way this will end in one way. Pulling the trans and having someone take it apart to inspect for damage(s). That would be the only for sure way of knowing the extent of the problem. I would not buy a new trans until your current one is split apart and inspected.

Yes it did make a whining noise. Sounded like the diff is failing or something. But tbh yes it drove fine and shifted fine. But thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to drop it out.
