hi compression is the only thing left really to check but in saying that it’s just been rebuilt with wiseco pistons etc. It does seem to turn over really easily and there’s not even a hint of it coughing or wanting to start can upload a video if it would help at all. Spark is good , fuel is good the sparky did wonder if the ecu was dumping lots of fuel in as the maf sensor was faulting. I have a 5 Ecu that I also tried and it didn’t show a fault code which seems odd ?

If the MAF is bad, have you swapped it? You can't expect the car to want to run without a proper MAF signal.

even without a maf it should at least start then die, the startup Injector pulses and timing are hard coded.

Hi guys no I haven’t swapped the maf as I don’t have another handy I have done a compression test now and have found we have zero compression so thinking timing is 180 out ?

The cam gears may be off 90* if you use a DSM one on an Evo.

All the parts have marks to line up. You line them up, rotate the engine a few times, then re-check. The only thing that can really be out is the front balance shaft. Which part are you thinking is 180* out?

They are exactly the same diameter as the std cam gears

Does the Evo IV not line the cam gears up with the marks on the valve cover? That's weird. I'd rather just use the right gears.

All the info I have read has the dowels lined up both facing up and the marks on the timing gears facing each other in the center
