FP Green or any better stock frame turbo

I am newbie when it comes to EVO's. Just bought my first EVO back in March, a EVO IX, and I am looking to build it but keep it for street use. Would an FP green be capable of reaching 700whp with the rite parts? It will just be a tune for 700whp that I can switch to when needed, I plan on running 400-500whp for daily use (it is not my daily driver I have 2 other cars and hopefully a bike pretty soon).

Any Advice is good advice.

Thanks in advance.

You are about to have quite a few responses to this I assume... But to answer your question plainly, no a green will not get you results you are looking for. You will need bigger.

FP black I'm assuming. Does anyone know estimated spool for this turbo?

4300-4500rpm with a 2.3L.

I hope you're prepared to spend $10k-$15k...

Even a fp black will be pushed to reach 700 whp and you will need e85 . As far as spool goes some where between 4500-5000 rpm on a 2.0 l engine.

500whp it is. Green should be good on a 2.3 motor, E85, etc.?

Step 1: Locate the shop you want to do the build. Check lancerregister for shops in your area with a good reputation for working on/building Evos.
Step 2: Figure out your budget. I mean the absolute top dollar you can afford to spend on the project.
Step 3: Tell the shop your goals and your budget. Then let them do what they have made a good reputation doing. Do not micromanage the build.
Step 4: Be patient. Expect everything to take longer than planned.
Step 5: Enjoy what should be a turn key monster.

A green will definitely do 500+ on E85 with a 2.3. Like nemsin said, find a reputable Evo shop and get the car built right.

Because that's just annoying. The job will take ever long it takes. Don't call everyday and ask is it done? Is it done? Is it done?

Thanks for the advice, I don't mean to come off rude, but I dont need a shop to build my car, I do all my work myself. I just needed to know what turbo would be beneficial since I don't have any experience with evo's or the forced performance turbos as I am a Honda guy. The evo is my street car, not a daily though.

You're gonna want a set of I beams for your build. Carrillo and R&R are some good options. 700hp will be pushing it on H-beams...even good ones.

You are looking at two completely different build options between 500 and 700 HP. You will not be happy with a turbo that will make 700HP if it is detuned to stay in the 500HP range, since that means turning down the boost, which will make a bigger turbo slow and unresponsive at less than 4000-4500 RPM.

A Green on E85 or race gas with a 2.3L will comfortably do 550-600HP and have nearly instant response with nearly no turbo lag. Lots of power under the curve, and the potential for mid 10.xx quarter miles. Because the torque comes on so fast and so wide, people are warning you to have good rods, because the Green torque is hard on weak rods...

If you want 700HP, that's another story, and very different driving characteristics. The FP Black or Zero will make that kind of horsepower, properly supported with the right mods, but you will give up some lower RPM drivability, just like with any 700 HP build, because of the fundamental characteristics of the motor and turbo choices you make.

Thank you that was very informative, the green seems like the better turbo to go with for good driveability and still get a good power curve without too much sacrifice.

The Red would also be a good option for a 2.3. The Red will have more top end available for you, while still spooling reasonably well. The Green will have a big torque spike on a 2.3, and spool even better.

You need to research what size turbo you want for your needs. The Green is a 54# a minute turbo and the Red is a 59# a minute turbo.
