Evo 8 clutch&flywheel swap into a 6?

scoped around these forums all night last night couldn't find a straightup answer so I decided to make this thread. Recently the clutch went in my evo 6, I asked around locally what my best option was in ordering a stage 2 clutch and throwing that in but I was told I was better off throwing in an evo 8 clutch & flywheel. Would it be an OEM clutch and flywheel from an 8 that I'd need to purchase and order? Is there any real difference in 4-9's drivetrain wise? Or would I just be able to order those parts then just be able to install them with ease? Don't the 7-9's have larger diameter clutch and flywheel? Lots of questions but I'm really stumped and just want to get my evo back on the road. Thanks

No real difference gearbox wise between the evo4-6 and evo7-9, transfer case is different though.

But back to your clutch question, clutches from evo7-9s will fit in your 6 no problem, you just have to use the whole kit, so flywheel and clutch.

I'm running an exedy twin plate meant for an evo7-9 in my evo6.

Yes the later evos have larger diameter clutches which is why you need the complete assembly and can't mix and match bits between the generations.

What sort of driving will you be doing?

I'm looking at a exedy twin disk for an 8, includes flywheel&clutch so I'm good there but would I need the oem 8 release bearing? I'll be doing daily driving and the occasional race or two but need a clutch that can handle a decent beating if I screw up on a launch for example.
