oil pump rebuild?
first off, i hate throwing away money LOL. i'm always looking for ways to DIY and put money towards things that are more important. so my question is:
has anyone rebuilt their oil pump? upon pulling two of them apart, i see they are extremely simple. two gears that mesh and draw oil out of the pan.
i have one good case, good gears, new seals, one good gear cover, and the gears clearnance is WELL in spec according to the service manual.
it's not really magic... so any reason NOT to rebuild the oil pump? the gears i'm using have less than 300mi on them.
i know it's easy to just buy a new one, but i see no reason to not rebuild. am i missing anything? thanks in advance.

I have used pumps with 200k on them. they are indeed simple. with age and normal use all the moving surfaces that that have critical oil clearance self polish. so they are less likely to gall on a fresh rebuild. it is time consuming to clean and prep them. its simpler to buy 100 pump and polish in the right places before use.

Polish anything that the gear face rides against. As long as the pump clearances are correct, no reason not to re use a pump a long as there isn't any wear from on the parts of the case where the journals ride on.
The most important part is pre-lubing the pumps with a good assembly lube.
