To rebuild or not to rebuild

To rebuild or not to rebuild
Hey guys. I need a group census and opinions. Currently I have an FP Red setup with rough around 420hp 394lbs torque and am happy with the car. I always said to myself that was the goal, but have also been waiting for my clutch to go out as to rethink my next move. Well driving the other day the clutch is slipping and I think it's it's time to make a choice. As i said with the car running it's current power, and after lots of work done myself the car is running great, and i'm very happy with it.
Now i'm thinking about it, i could always do more power, but I am maxed out to what i can do on a stock block, so thinking of upgrading to a 2.2l and aiming for around the 750 mark.
Right now the car is DD but obviously with that power this can't be a DD and i'm ok with that, my girlfriend just picked up a new GLI which can be my sideline project lol
Is it worth the hassle? am i going to regret doing the build? Have any of you run into issues with rebuilding your cars?
Thanks in advance guys.

Wait for a reason to do the build. Buy a built shortblock and have it waiting and start looking at turbo kits. You can buy a good rebuildable shortblock fairly cheap.

I agree with the others. If its running good, leave it alone. If it blows up, then you can build it. Too any people never get their build right and end up selling the whole car. Just small things pop up and you never know how it may wind up. Plus, you will be down for a while when you build.

push it harder on the stock motor until it breaks and then fix it? I think it was ETS that ran at like 600 or so horsepower on a stock motor stock everything just upgraded clutch and one of their t3 kits.
but that is mainly just a game of luck.
