Air intake

I have done a ton of reading about different air intakes, I have read comparison threads of a lot of different brands of intakes.

I've seen some people using MAF adaptors of various brands, mostly 4.5 inch. Working at Napa I like to try and find things that are more available.

So in our performance book, Spectre performance shows a MAF adaptor and it says it fits Mitsubishi. It's a 4 inch diameter, which makes it considerably easier to find a filter, and it's reasonably priced. I'm capable of fabricating my own brackets (as most of us on here are)

Basically I was just curious if anyone has used this, or knew if it was worth trying out, and if it's good, it could be a cheaper, easier to service alternative being available at any Napa store.

Part #81403 Spectre Performance

You will require tuning after that big of a change so might as well just switch to a metal intake without MAF and go Speed Density now.

Never really done any research into a SD setup. I know a lot of people do it, what's the benefit of going that way.

Also a tuner really isn't an option for me locally so this probably all won't happen for a while, just trying to find options outside the normal....order and wait 3 or 4 days. I'd have to travel out of state as far as I know for a good tuner.

Also I read on another thread that air filters with a tapered open end worked better with the MAF. Like the RG1001RD K&N. Something about the way the air flow pattern was better. Also this is still cheaper... not that I need it to be, I just like a good parts discussion. (It is my job after all)

Here's that K&N.
