it all started slowly. first it stalled once a month and i really didn't notice it then it started to stall more and more in till now it stall every time i push the clutch in. if i gave it gas it would stay running but now it dosn't even do that because now once it warms up it back fires and the engine sucks the rpms down and shuts off.
things i have tried.
-boost leak test
-replaced the seals in throttle body
-adjusting throttle position

i just had the block built but back to stock again. i believe the problem could be the thrust bearing but not totally sure. just wondering if anyone else had any ideas for me to check before i pull the motor.

 

Possible that the ISCV could be failing. A quick search should help you find how to test.

 

Check the crankshaft end play.

This times two. Check the play in the crank. Could be the dreaded crank walk. Although it's more prone to happen in dsm cars, there has been cases in the evo world. Put a pry bar on the crank and check in and out play
