You can pull the cams and have the specs checked, but I would just leave them in there and get it tuned. Your bolt-ons plus a good tune (maybe E85 lol) will make for a fun car.
As far as the motor mounts, I installed a Blox front motor mount and the others are stock. It was a very nice improvement over stock and I haven't noticed any noise increase.

If the cams are 264s, then it's pretty close to stock. Unless the seller claimed the engine was never modified, that wouldn't be cool.
Well I am the 3rd owner. I feel like the 2nd owner didnt really know what he had. He didnt even know the car was lowered until I took a peek and noticed it was on Tein H.Techs. LOL

And I can see that whole "stock" thing. I consider my Ralliart "mostly stock" even though I have a parts and mod list as long as my arm...

I'll check when I do the timing belts. Figured I might as well go ahead and take care of that while its down. I was about 15,000 miles away from needing it done again anyway. Debating if I want to go thru with removing the balance shafts again. beating on those bearings isnt very fun... But I really enjoy the security of knowing that stupid tiny belt wont cause me any issues.

Im realizing that I have almost everything I need to go speed density at this point. I really only have to figure out how to wire in the IAT sensor now. My wife bought me the Omni-Power 4 bar MAP sensor for christmas. So I am getting very tempted to, instead of going back to stock, make use of everything I have and just getting it tuned well somewhere.

You don't have to delete the balance shaft to get rid of the belt. Just don't put the belt on. I didn't trust mine, either.

So what put the stubby shaft in the oil pump, and just leave the rear shaft in place? does that not cause any issues with it still supplying oil to those bearings and nothing moving? I kinda feel like that would be a problem since your not blocking off those unused oil passages.

Just talk to whoever will be tuning the car(if you picked someone already) and see what they have to say. I didnt wire an IAT sensor when I went SD.
SpoolinUp also sells a couple variations of IAT harnesses, maybe check that out.

Here is some info about the balance shafts

you leave the shaft in to block the oil passages. otherwise you're right: removing it would dump oil pressure, but if you flip the bearings then it goes high.

i chose to just leave the shaft in and not run the belt.

also, in regards to the IAT sensor, a tuner can also use the fuel temp sensor if you're not wanting to do the wiring, etc. Some tuners like to use one, some the other. they both seem to work pretty well.

Good deal I will remember that. Thanks kaj!

----------

Got the head pulled off of the engine Sunday night. Going to be stripping it down and getting it to a machine shop soon. However I noticed this once I got the head off. From what I am seeing these are supposed to be Evo 8 pistons right? Since the car is a 9 Im assuming this engine has been rebuilt at some point now...

Get that IAT sensor hooked up and get a good SD tune after you have the car all back together and solid. It'll be a fun little build

Thanks evo8tanner!

I do have a question today. I have the head back from the shop and I have it put back together. However I noticed last night that the Mivec cam gear has some slack in it or something. it will twist two teeth back and make a gurgling sound, but the cam itself does not move. It doesnt go any further than that, nor does anything appear to be loose. Did the shop reassemble something incorrectly? Or is it supposed to do that?

Thanks for any quick answers. I am hoping to get the engine assembled today if everything is ok.

So far the only other road block I am dealing with is rebuilding my turbo. I have the compressor off but the dang hot side will not let go of the center section. Ive tried penetrating oils, heating it up, pulling on it, tapping it with a rubber mallet... idk... :/

Normal. The mivec gear is stabilized and adjusted via oil pressure. With no oil pressure, it's free to move around.

So should I turn it all the way one way or another. Or let if float somewhere in the middle?

doesn't matter. it sets itself once oil pressure builds.

Posted more pics over in my Show-N-Shine thread. Found HERE didnt want to spam with a bunch of pics.

broke a few pieces tonight. and after seeing how worn the timing belts really were i got paranoid and decided to go ahead and do the balance shaft delete and to replace all the timing pulleys. Placed an order for those, and the necessary gaskets. Also picked up the Kiggly Racing HLA.

Finally got my turbo apart tonight too. So that rebuild will be next on my plate. Noticed the O2 housing had a nice crack half way around it so I will be trying to seal it up with some JB Weld. If that doesn't work it'll give me a good excuse to get a screamer pipe or a hood dump.
