best cams for low end power?

I was considering buying the S1s but something got into me today and I decided I want to build an airplane... goal : as high as I can get safely without a built motor... I'm thinking 400whp+ with the cams and e85... maybe 450-500whp with a bbk full or something... gotta take it one step at a time though so my first goal is to find out which cams would be best.

also... yesterday... I was pulling into traffic in first gear with one thought in my head (spool up... cmon turbo... spooool damnitttt!!!)

sooooo if anyone has any recommendations on how to improve LOW end throttle response that would be great.

Are you still currently on the stock turbo? If so ii don't see how you could bbe thinking to yourself come on turbo spool up on the stocker when full boost is around 3800 rpm. As for cams gsc, kelford, cosworth, and hks are all decent cams. For low and mids I would stay around 272 maybe even 264/272 combo.

400 is easy on stock block and e85 just don't push the torque too much past 400 on stock internals that's a general rule of thumb people suggest in here that bad stuff happens going much more than that. You could look into an fp green or red which should easily get ya 400whp.

what mods are done to your car already?

you say you want low end throttle response & you also want max power out of a stock block......you can only have 1 really good thing, or a compromise somewhere between the 2.

since you most likely bought a used evo, based on your join date.....you should really go over the basics, before making big changes, as the basics maybe screwing you.

I am a low end response guy as well, so i can offer up, what has worked for me.

list your mods & people can help you go from there.

I don't if it's normal but my 1st gear never lag. Touch it and it goes like falling off a cliff. I still run the old HKS 272s. :}

If ur that impatient waiting for a turbo to spool at only 1k rpm you need to sell and get something supercharged lol. And yes more lift, duration is what helps out up top

S1's would suit you well. I am running S1's with stock turbo and 93 oct and am not far from 400 awhp. On E85 is easy to reach that goal with other supporting mods. I love the hell out of my S1's. My turbo spools quicker, and throttle response is awesome. I have no complaints from my S1's.

i always liked the low/mi-range punch of the hks 272's, but the gsc s1's drive the best while still making better power up top.

i will try to locate my smaller cam compare on stock block 2.0, 91oct & tme turbo, aem tuned.

GSC S1's are gonna be your best bang for the buck if you're trying to max out the stock turbo while retaining power down low.
