Loud BANG from EVO today under full boost...

When I was driving today, I mashed down the gas in 3rd gear. Under full boost going like 70mph, I heard this loug BANG come from the engine. I then lost all power to the car!!! I tried to start it and NOTHING!!! Luckily, I was able to drift to the side of the road.

Upon inspection, I blew off the flex hose at the location circled in the pic. What is that part called that the hose is going in to?

Is there any damage that might have occured as a result of that happening?? I reset my ECU, reclamped the hose and it now seems fine

It's called the throttle body.

Shouldn't have caused any damage unless something went in.

Jesus! that's happening a lot recently.

2 Dcevoclub members had them blow off on the same day, like 2 days ago.

Is it because it's getting warmer or something?

You also hit fuel cut. The ECU thinks things are rapdily out of control and yanks the timing.

Yeah I second the t-bolt clamp option. Had mine blow off at the exact same spot after messing around with the car last weekend, truly a ball shrinking experience. Just if you get the t-bolt clamps pick up a deep socket 11mm or appropriate sized socket, if you use a shallow socket the bolt from the t-bolt will get stuck in it and it's a pain in the ***.

I blew the one flex hose off that is coming up from the intercooler twice on the dyno. It's nothing a nice, tight T-Bolt clamp won't fix.

That loud bang and loss of power is the reason I now carry a 10mm socket & ratchet in the car with me (screw driver doesn't get it tight enough). After all, I think you can tighten/remove anything on this car with a 10mm anyway .

Yea, I carry a socket set as well. I'm glad I didn't blow the engine...I wasn't carrying a spare one of those in the car

I had this happen today and I have not been able to reset my ECU yet, as i just got home. After tightening down the clamp and re-connecting things. I am now topping out at 17PSI of boost (on boost gauge), and then tapering down to 14. Is this something that the ECU reset will bring back up to the consistant 19PSI peak I had before this happened. Makes me worry that I might have hurt something in the Blow off valve or wastegate that is now costing me PSI on the top end.
