evo 8 not moving after clutch installed
evo 8 not moving after clutch installed
so im new to the evo game & i got a 05 evo 8 MR with a 5speed conversion, acd was deleted, trans & transfer case was switched to a non acd 5 speed.. so i bearly got the car & was driving it when i noticed the car wouldnt acclerate when i was pressing the gas.. so i came to a complete stop, put it in first & let off the clutch, car bearly started moving like no power.. i could give it gas but it wasnt going no where.. mph & rev was moving when pressed gas.. so i thought it was the clutch.. i changed clutch put everything back how it was.. when i went to try it, its kind of hard to get the clutch in gear.. gotta pump the clutch a lil to get it in gear but when u do it does exactly the same as it was doing when i first thought the clutch went out.. i dont know what it could be.. transmission sounds fine, i dont hear no noises or clings in it.. any help?
Before you replaced the clutch did the car's failure to move happen suddenly or over a period of time? A clutch goes away slowly in normal driving. I had one slip in July and I continued to drive until the end of September (cool weather) and did the swap then. If it happened suddenly, something is broken.

The speedometer is driven by the final drive gear in the transmission. If the speedometer moves all the gears in the transmission are okay.
Edit: This is a guess but since you say the car moves a little I'd say the center differential is broken and the viscous coupling is having to engage in order to make the car move. The way this could work is one of the shafts coming from the center differential is broken - one drives the front differential and the other the rear. The the engine would only spin the broken shaft until the viscous coupling kicks in locking the diff. Then one set of wheels would get power.

I'd be working above my pay grade to say more - I've never had the transmission apart. I suggest calling Shep, Jack's or TRE (Jon is the best but lots of luck contacting him) and explaining your symptoms. They work on this stuff all of the time and should know instantly.
update, I took apart transmission.. center diff seems to be ok, so does the transmission & all the gear don't look wore out of any big metal shavings in it.. all spins look fine.. so what else could cause the car not no move? maybe front diff in tcase?
