Oil Pressure at idle

I just got an evo 8, it has 36k miles on it and drives like a champ. But at HOT idle i noticed the oil pressure gauge showing 0-5 psi of pressure. When its just warm it shows anywhere from 5-12. Cold its like 20-25. I have done a lot of googling before i posted and noticed some similar problems but most of theres dont give answers. I have just changed the oil with RP 10w30 and that didnt do it. Then threw on a mechanical gauge and that didnt change. Any other ideas or should i plan on pulling the engine?

Where are you measuring the oil pressure?

Yea it fluctuates a little and normally is on the 5 side but when it drops it scares the hell out of me, how would you know if its the oil pump or main bearings? Any tell tale signs?

I suggest connecting a mechanical gage, one of known good quality. Be sure you are actually reading oil pressure that low before doing anything.

Doesn't the manual state it should be 3-5psi at idle? I think you're fine.

What is it at when cruising or accelerating?

That is a big bummer, man. Hope your luck turns around.

As a (not so great) silver lining, at least this is an opportunity to go with stronger internals if you had lofty power goals.
