thrust washer question

Hi, I've just orders some main bearings for my evo4.. I was led to belive it had a e6 engine fitted. The bearings came and then we realised the engine had a one piece thrust washer/bearing set fitted!

Can I use the three piece set I have or does it have to be a one piece? Is it possible I have the wrong bearings fitted as that is what has failed.. altho with a bent crank

From what i do know....

The 4G63's (7 Bolt) that are year 1997+ use the 3 piece "Split Washer" thrust bearing design.

Like this:

The Older 6 Bolt and "Pre 1997" 7 Bolt 4G63 motors use the "One Piece" Thrust washer design.

Like this:

The Problem with the old One Piece design is, when torquing the caps, the two "One Piece" thrusts can bind, and miss align, causing premature wear, and if there's a loss of oil pressure....well you know the rest.

If you have the older thrust washer design then you will need the One Piece thrust set. i do not think the Split Thrust set would work in that engine.
It would not work because of the main bearing cut out made for a One Piece Thrust on both the Block and Main Girdle.
The 3 Piece only has a cut for the Thrusts on the Block.

Unless the last owner somehow fitted a One piece thrust in a Post 97 4G63 (7 Bolt)

Ok thankyou.. so it looks like I need to send the 3peice ones back and change them for the earlier 1piece type.

Has anybody used .75 oversize bearings before? I've had to have a bend ground out of my crank and I'm in two minds of u should use them or bite the bullet and replace the crank?
