Once done the thin fan sticks out of the shroud in the back ( engine side) just a small amount allowing for the additional clearance you are looking for. As for the aluminum mounting points, that was to mount the fan to the shroud and not the radiator.
Good luck.
Makes sense, but why not just use the Mishimoto fan & shroud?

Because this was free, it fit in the space provided, it solved the problem and it worked better than stock. --- and I like to keep everything looking stock.

LOL, free is always good.

OK, so I've been doing more reading. It seems CBRD is the way to go.....if you can afford it. Sadly, even though I can technically afford the radiator, I can't afford the shipping, duties and tax which could add on close to 50%.

If I've read correctly, Koyo is the next best. But I can't find enough info. If the thickness is the same as oem, allowing me to use the oem fans, if there are mounting points on the radiator for the oem radiator and ac fans, etc.

Anybody with experience or info on this?

I just installed a CSF aluminum radiator that i got from rallysportdirect on sale for ~260, it fit perfectly, is thicker than the oem rad, but I was able to get it on with the oem fans. I'm sure most aluminum radiators are thicker than oem, but any quality brand should be able to fit with the oem fans, if you have an aftermarket manifold or turbo, you may need to test fit.. just my 2 cents!

The Mishimoto evo 7/8/9 radiator was designed to fit like OEM. The fan will mount up, but might be pushed out a little further. I'm running a Mishimoto evo 4/5/6 radiator (on my 9) because it is thicker and moves the opening further away from the manifold. The OEM fan will not fit nicely on this one so I'm running a 14" Mishimoto slim fan. Hope that helps
