thanks, I understand much better now - looks like you are right on that. I think this picture helps too:

It looks like it is designed to send max oil to the pan, which is always a good thing

Yeah, thanks to this thread I actually understand how to use the 3rd piece now. It goes under the windage tray and scrapes the front half of the crank, but from a higher position in the block

glad this has helped someone! I'm thoroughly convinced this is the piece to get - don't see any downsides to Tomei's. Reaching out to a few vendors now.

aaaand ordered! looking forward to adding this!

was reading a little closely into that site - saw the "oil gallery orifice" - sounds similar to what the kiggly hla does. thought that was very interesting.

for those who have installed it - is it fairly straightforward? instructions clear & in English?

That oil galley orifice is for an RB26..

Installing the scraper kit should be easy.

Ah, gotcha.

The Kiggly is better though as its a sprung regulator, not just a restrictor.

There are no instructions with the Tomei kit. However, with the picture from the Tomei site I can see how the 3rd piece installs (red part in the attached illustration). Maybe it's my lack of an engineering background, but it wasn't obvious to me...I thought I could only install two pieces.

Even after a search on other forums like MLR. There are no pics with just that piece installed (since the windage tray covers it up).

Here's the whole pic for viewing simplicity - the line image does look like it was drawn in MS Paint, but hopefully it's accurate. From it, looks like the back (front?) L scraper sits on top of the tray?

got my tomei in the mail today:

comes with the turbo oil feed gaskets & 3 metal pieces, plus 1 single hardware bolt - hard to tell from the pics, but looks like that's everything.

any tips on assembly? torque specs etc? Also for getting the pan back on etc.. looks like just rtv, no gasket on the pan itself. do i use rtv on the turbo line sealant also?

With the crank in the car, you have to adjust the cutter and scrapper to get close to the crank but not touch. I forget what the specs are...there should be some for the Cosworth out there.

Be aware, there are 3 oil slicers that have to be (probably) adjusted. One on the scraper, one on the scraper that goes under the windage tray and finally one row of scrapers on the windage tray.

Torque specs should be whatever it it for the windage tray for the two parts (windage tray and vertical scraper). Not sure about the 3rd scrapper piece.

Hope that makes sense.

adjust how? with the extra tolerance in the mounting holes to move around the scrapers and trays basically? then hand crank the engine and make sure it clears?

i'll have to look up the specs but i gotta imagine these need to go on pretty darn tight... they get loose and it's game over isn't it?

anyone have

1) tolerances for the scrapers
2) torque specs

on hand?

Still overthinking the crank scraper, I see.
