Odd lean-out under partial load.

Good evening,

I've recently been going through some headaches with a turbo swap (efr 7163). Boost leaks, stuck throttle after replacing seals, etc. However I'm going to ask about my current issue.

These problems occurred after an install of a EGR blockoff and new TB seals. We had an issue where the car would fall on its face dead rich at cruise (honestly the same areas where it's lean now) and pulled fuel at that area. I finally got the throttle cable and TPS where they needed to be, and began to do my 2 hour commute to work a week or so after that.

I then notice the car is running stupid lean and feels like it's pulling power when I'm just adding a little bit of gas to get up a hill at cruise speeds. There's no knock, no CEL, just lean AFR and disappointment.

I have boost leak tested the system, and am at a real loss as to what it could be. Since the leaks are now fixed could it be the areas on the table where we pulled fuel, since if I press the throttle in more it corrects? Bad fuel pump?

I'll take any ideas besides exhaust leak test, since that's next haha. Thanks!

Might be a stupid question, but you did disable all the egr table from your rom, correct?

Yep, did all that too. I'm on v7.

Albeit I think I may have just realized an error. I removed the EGR but not the solenoids associated. I'd imagine that would cause some issue right? Feel like it's pretty much all capped off though. 😅

Just seems odd this would happen now, after they've been installed and the car was running fine for a while.

Well if any if those vacuum lines are not properly capped off and sealed, that would cause a HUGE vacuum leak,

I was going to ask if you had leanspoon activated but you better check all the lines first lol. As far as egr goes, if its deactivated, you obviously dont need the solenoid anymore. If for any reason the solenoid activates, the motor will run rough since its not getting the air the egr valve is intended to dump back in the plenum

But honestly, That should cause a rich mixture not lean, my bet is a vacuum line.

I'm doing an exhaust leak test as my tuner suggested and I'll keep an eye for other vacuum stuff. I mean, it does cruise rich sometimes with a similar style load but not as extreme as the lean condition is. Its as if the fuel trim can't make its mind.

Could very well be a tuning issue, have you logged your fuel trims? log low and mid fuel trims, see if they are crazy out of range

The odd part is they are fine until that event occurs. Usually in between -3 and 0. I haven't had it plugged in since the lean event occurred, but I will shortly.

Well, removed all the solenoids that I didn't, and made sure, once again that everything was capped. The problem I mentioned is gone for now, and the car is back to at least running properly. The rest of the issues? Yeah, that's for another time...haha.

Thanks for the inputs!
