Yellow Jacket or OEM

Has anyone in this forum got any comments on Yellow Jacket coil pack? Heard its an AUS brand but made in china. they claim the following
Increased Ignition Performance
- Improved Combustion
- Improved throttle response and smoothness
- No spark blowout at higher boost
- Direct Fit- Solid construction

Or is it better to stick with factory coil pack? Car (Evolution IX) has just over 200k kms on the original coils and leads. But every now and then there's misfire or weird hesitation on High boost (24psi) especially when accelerated softly, climbing hill etc.

If you're experiencing any park plug blowout or drivability issues, upgrading your coil pack is a good idea. Most people on here use SparkTech or Spoolin Up ignition systems. STM racing starting make them as well.

So, I'm assuming Yellow Jacket is not good, what about NGK?

It's unfair to assume that they're not good just because nobody here has experience. However if you're looking to upgrade your spark without an expensive CDI system I'd say the Spoolin' Up Coil on Plug kit is going to be your best bet. This kit uses inexpensive toyota Denso coils that are easy to replace when the time comes. Aftermarket coils tend to be expensive to replace, while they do tend to last a bit longer.

I've heard of the Yellow Jacket coils but I've no experience with them, sorry. I do, however love my STM non-cdi coil on plug setup!

I never liked coil on plug setups. makes the car harder to get to the plugs. personally I prefer the early 4g63 coil arrangement. and they are a better coil performance wise. hard to believe after all these years a simple bolt in coil has not really been realised on these forums. I think one was tested many years ago and it was reported to be not better or barely better. but I might be wrong on that. someone needs to test these coils on a 700hp car and see if they help

Say what? How is it harder? On my setup i remove two nuts and the whole thing pulls right out, all 4 at once. It has taken my 15 minute plug change down to 13 minutes lol. What your claiming doesn't make sense from a physics stand point. There is a reason every OEM has moved to a coil on plug setup. How are cop kits not a "simple bolt on" part?

depending on coil used they can be very difficult to get coil back off plug. and when its difficult on one its a nightmare when all four have to be pried off same time just to check one plug.. this is just my bad experience with them. I prefer being able to pull off one wire to take out one plug. I thought my mazda 5 coils would need to be replaced they were so hard to pry off. its a no thanks from me. glad you are happy with yours.

I use dielectric grease on the plugs, which might prevent the boot from getting stuck on the plug. I also change my plugs every oil change so they are never on there too long, that might have something to do with it too. I used Denso coils made for the Honda S2K so i can't speak for other coils. To each his own though, i know guys that wont mess with anything without a carburetor.
