I've had over 45+ cars to know when a clutch is on it's last leg, and in this particular situation, this wasn't the case on my car.

Captainsquirts did the glazing on the HDSS eventually went away? I had a HDSS on my 08 HR Z and it never glazed...then again I never slipped it

If it's glazing then yes it will go away over time through regular driving. But if you burnt up all ur clutch material then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sorry to hear how bad your timing was! I highly doubt a couple of slips on the clutch are what did it....definitely sounds like it was on the last leg... no doubt about it. Put in a new clutch and sell it for more.

My timing is right, your assumption on the other hand is utterly wrong. I appreciate your opinion on the matter though.

UPDATE
I parked the m3 and took the evo for an hour's worth drive after work, I'm actually sitting in my car inside my garage typing this and I'm happy to say that the slip on 3rd & 4th is completely gone. I did several wot pulls on 2,3,4 & 5th and I'm content to say there is absolutely no slippage whatsoever.

Good deal. But you still have a ruined sunroof. I'll give you $1500 for the car. Cash money. It's either that or the wrecker.

That being said, I guess it's just a life lesson. The PO of my car was not willing to let me drive the car, up until we were literally minutes away from signing the deal and signing over the title. 5 minutes after the test drive we were in the bank counting the cash.

He told me he had had several kids hitting him up just to take it out for a quick spin, so I was more than understanding to his hesitation to allow test drives.

No kidding, I've let friends launch my car on my HDSS and while they've burnt the **** out of it multiple times(even I burn the **** out of it), and it's still going strong 30k miles later.

that's what you get for trying to sell it in the first place.... after owning an evo how can anyone want to sell it?? . and when you replace the clutch do yourself a favor and put an exedy in and trash that act, just my 2 cents. one time about ten years ago I let some guy at a car wash try to move my car forward thru the wash and I ended up removing him from the car and nobody has ever driven it since then except my tuner- tech and me.. good luck with your sale

Damn shame. Idiots like that make me feel bad to be young haha.

You will have to educate me, is the ACT HDSS heavier/ harder than an Exeddy Twin?

I personally know an 18yo girl that would probably out-drive most of the people in this thread. Age means nothing. LOL
Sorry, man. Bummer. Test drives are always sketchy because you just never know what they are gonna do. I had a guy once shift into 3rd instead of 5th and I thought I killed the car I was selling. I was about to punch him.

Sorry to hear that.

I have my Evo since 2009 and I didn't let anybody drive it. Never-ever!
