You probably have a lot of miles on the vehicle, so it would be pretty cost effective to refresh.
Light hone, remove glaze, install new rings from the dealer, re gap, you'll be ok the clearances are set so tight from mitsu, the pistons dipped to remove the carbon leftover.
Deck head and block, new headgasket, timing belt, balance shaft belt, or a delete your preference, tensioner, water pump.
Re use the stock valves, have them re seated, re use stock springs.
This is the cheaper alternative, VS 3 to 4 to 5 geez on a build,

Or, a stock shortblock is $2,800 to $3,000 brand new from mitsu. Just a thought, search and you WILL find...
