Please help!!! 05 evo

Soo my evo is messing up real bad and I have taken it to my tuner and he just charged me 300 for plugs and 1 coil. my coil completely separated from the housing but now with the new ones my evo will run fine and then out of the blue it will start sputtering and when it is doing that it won't let me hit any power.
but if I drive like a grandma I can hit boost and with slow accel I can get to any speed.
but now I checked the plugs and cylinder 4 has 50 psi and will when I drive out of the blue it will loose power like I turned the car off and then it goes again like a hiccup
mods are just new piping with filters by in jen
could it be the bov

So you did a compression test and only had 50psi in cylinder 4?

Your thread is so hard to understand.
Did you say the compression on cyl 4 only come up to 50 PSI?

hate to break it to yah, but your engine is probably going to need a rebuild. That compression is either caused by bad rings or bad valve sealing. You can try adding a little engine oil into the cylinder and if the compression improves its bad rings, if not bad valve sealing.

I would expect it to run pretty bad with that much of a compression loss.

would it be wise to just replace engine or to do a rebuild?

Thats really upto you. Do a bunch of research, find out what the cost of a crate motor is vs. what a rebuild would cost. Most people take this situation as an opportunity to rebuild the engine with upgraded parts to allow for more performance. The reliability of an upgraded engine is very dependent on the competence of the machine shop doing the build. A crate motor is going to be completely new parts, sensors everything, will have the same reliability of a new stock engine. So compare the costs, gauge the competence of the shop you would have do the build and decide from there what works with your budget and goals.

It depends on how badly damaged the engine really is. You may luck out and it's just a head gasket or a bent valve.

This is very true, figure out what exactly is wrong before assuming the worst.
