Using aftermarket pistons from SR20 or VG30

Dear All,

I was browsing around the catalogs of those aftermarket pistons as there's a certain piston pin height that i am looking for. At the moment it boils down to pistons from SR20 or VG30 which has 32mm or 32.5mm piston height which matches what I want to use at the moment.

My question is, would it be allright if I were to use those off the shelves aftermarket pistons from other car manufacturers such as the models i mentioned above. Would there be any negative implications towards my engine if i were to use those pistons? Both these models are also using 22mm pins.

Please shed some light to me on this. Tq.

It's just a case of making sure that the measurements add up.
It's been done with other engines.

You would need to check piston to valve clearance, as well as clearance for the small end of the connecting rod in the piston.

What do you need this odd compression height for? CP makes a 31.8mm comp height piston. It's for a 94mm crank with 150mm rod in the 4g63 block.

Here in Malaysia we can easily get 4D68 cranks (93mm). So divide that by half, 46.5mm + 150mm + 32.5 = 229mm. So far the measurements for SR20 or VG30 pistons are well aligned with evo rods (22mm).

For the piston to valve clearance, would you be able to advise how to check on this? Should i ask the manufacturer? i've emailed them directly though through the contact us page, somehow still no response

I built a shortblock here is USA with the 4d68 crank.
I used 147mm rods. this allowed a pretty big selection of off the shelf 2.0 pistons.
I was expecting the piston to sit .5mm below deck from normal but that didnt happen. the pistons fit flush. worked out perfect.
