Exedy Twin VS ACT

Saving for clutch replacement in the near future, and mechanic and tuner said stay with ACT. but im curious about the Exedy twin? why this is so expensive compare to ACT? Maybe its better? but why my mechanic/tuner/shop owner recommending ACT?

385 WHP E85 - 500 Power goal (have the supporting mods.) and currently running ACT for 20,000 miles already. (launch, track and daily)

Need to know what exedy twin can do why this is expensive.

thanks.

it's a twin? and frankly the twins aren't that good unless you don't mind rebuilding a clutch often

a twin in theory will have ~2x the surface area of a single disk. Less though because the disks are a little smaller in diameter. They are so much more expensive because you are dealing with like double the amount of parts in a clutch kit. With complexity comes less reliability though because more things to fail/go wrong and the tolerances are tighter because you are dealing with more stuff in the same amount of space.

The clutch you have now will be fine at 500hp. Clutches don't care about hp, they only care about torque. And a stock motor can only handle about 400-420wtq anyways.

I have a exedy twin now and previously had a act. Personally I'd go with the exedy everyday over the Act

Exedy makes the best clutches period. They are backed by the biggest clutch oem manufacturer for the Asian market; Daikin Clutch.

you guys are dumping on the twin for dailying but i was on one for many years, same one, no rebuild, variety of power levels, dailying, with no issues.

the only time i removed it was to polish the towers/rocker arms for easier engagement, at which point i bought a rebuild anyway since it was out. absolutely no issues now after the polishing, and with the 6 speed it feels just right

My 2 ACT clutches have never done this. I got 80k miles out of my first with many launches and very spirited canyon driving. I did the installs myself and removed the factory clutch line and replaced it with a SS line.

I'm having engagement issues and polishing the towers is something I want to do when I do a rebuild. Can you be a bit more specific about the process?

On my second act clutch, first one lasted like 65k miles. No lockouts. Just gotta make sure the clutch is adjusted properly when installed.

I use to use the exedy when I had my Evo in 2008. Going to be getting into another one, just waiting on one without many miles! If anyone knows of a stockish exterior Evo 9 for sale with less than 50k miles, lmk.

(stock turbo to green), do I need to replace the clutch, eventhough still
