Weird Idle & Stall

Hi,

So ive been having this issue for a while now- the car has a strong cold start but once up to operating temp and I shut it off- it has a weak and stumbly idle. This is only when re-starting when the engine is warm.

I found a small crack in one of the runners on my turbo manifold- but didnt think this would cause this issue. Its being replaced this week cause my AFR is jumpy due to this leak.

Also noticed when going into reverse the car wants to die at times, but not always.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

There a lot of factors regarding cold start , wierd and fluctuations idle.
It could be vacuum leaks
Spark/ignition issues
Fuel pump or fuel issues ETc.

Try to remember what was the last youve done in your evo before
You have this issues and go from there.

Good luck..

I purchased the car a few months back. Sorry- shouldve included that.

I checked and no vacuum leaks. Could the cracked manifold cause this type of issue? I guess its considered a vacuum leak since its a leak before the turbo.

Appreciate the help! Thanks maxroach!

I'd fix what you know is wrong and see if that fixes your problem. If not, start with cheapest possible fixes and gradually get to the more expensive/time consuming ones.

Thanks guys, Ill check it out. Once manifold is replaced and problem presists- ill try to narrow it down by checking fuel, fuel filter, and plugs & coils.

Good luck. Report back once you find the problem or narrow it down a little more.
