Stupid Check Engine Light!!!!
I had a boost gauge, honestly didn't lok at it, and the SAD thing is I would beat fast cars on the street pretty easy as well, and walk cars, I think the problem progressed and just got real bad today or noticed it against REALLY FAST EVOS.
That's good that it's fixed. I guess all the problems Turbo Trix and myself tried helping with weren't either of our faults.

Yup, my fault. Funny thing is that this has NEVER been a problem, ran that MBC on my TSI AWD for 3 years and on the Evo for 1. I guess when we dyno tuned the Evo, we forgot to tighten it. My Evo has never felt as fast as it does today, or any other day, it feels like it should, and having no check engine light is the best mod ever, I have been looking at one since 1999 on my TSI AWD and the EVO, I am so happy you have no idea.
Thanks David.....
You guys should get the injen exhaust with test pipe and the mechanical cel fix. I am going on 5k miles without a cat and no check engine light. Here is a link to it http://injen.com/new_layout/products/ses/ses1898.jpg , if you look at the pipe on the left you can see the o2 bung. It works. You can also go to autozone and get a package of spark pulg non foulers and drill one of them out and put the two of them into the o2 bung and then install the o2 sensor into the non fouler and it keeps the o2 sensor far enough out of the exhaust gasses that it get a proper reading. I have been using the spark plun non fouler on my girlfriends mazdaspeed protege for 10k miles with no cel.
Why the hell would anyone buy an "O2 simulator" product that is $40+ and you have to cut into your rear O2 harness when you could just pay 4 bucks for sparkplug anti-foulers? I've used the mechanical fix for the past 8000 miles with no problems.
I've got the same problem.. sorry to revive such an old thread. P0420 with BR 3" turbo back HIGH FLOW cat. This is the first time seeing the light.. weather has started warming up here.. not sure if that has any effect.
So those with the P0420 and high flow cat are using what to fix the problem?

Bumping as well. I just had the Buschur 3" TBE w/high flow cat put on last week and today my SES light came on. So I'm wondering if it's related to that. Going to Autozone tomorrow to get the code and find out for sure.
I've been fighting this stupid SES light for almost a year now, and it gets to the point that I'm so frustrated that I cannot think about it anymore. I'm trying everything even the O2 simulator, still no luck. This is the second one that I'm trying on righ on and still no luck. I still want to try the spark plug anti-foulers but guess what, after drilling one of them and trying to put it onto an exhaust the stupid thing does not want to align. Don't get me wrong it goes in, but after that I cannot put in the O2 sensor because there is no space for it because it is hitting the floor of the car. Frustrating, anyway if you want you can take a look at one of my threads and the crap that I'm going through. ANY AND ALL HELP VERY VERY APPECIATED.

My check engine light came on to, I have a 3 inch exaust with all the good stuff, but my light went on once, and then turned off, the other night I was driving and whipped around a corner, I look down at the damn orange light was on. So is it a sensor that keeps tripping or what? The previous owner put the exaust and some other mods on, does the ecu need to be flshed to recognize it or what. I am just sick of the light. I am even more sick that I dont know the reason. Its frustrating. The car runs fine but I dont know.
