I noticed the plates were a lot different. I remember thinking, "Are these things even finished??".

So I talked to Jon today. I told him he was highly recommended on here. Had a 20 min discussion (much more than I thought I would have) on all sorts of Evo and or machinery related. Very knowledgeable. Likes to talk. I Jerry Maguire'd him. You had me at hello.

So he said ship it or drop it off. I'll get it back to you. On to step two.

20 minutes is on the short side of a phone call with John. I've talked to him on the phone for an hour before...LOL

If Jon has someone else answering his phone he'd get 10 times the work done and have half the business he has now.

Phone calls with Jon were definitely what drew me in to sending his parts to him. His old website was definitely not confidence inspiring that he was a legit business...LOL

I swear I was just on TRE's site recently and it wasn't updated. It's FINALLY updated after all these years.

I was explaining to my wife what I wanted to do to her car and she said ok let's see. Went to his "new" site and Jon has a before and after pic on the page of a rear diff. My wife said "wow! I want that!" Pointing to the rebuilt TRE diff. Easiest sale I made all day.

I wanted to talk to Jon more but I had to get back to work. I have to earn money to pay Jon.

Sorry for stealing the topic a bit, but any recommendation for overseas people like me?

I am thinking about re-arranging my stock LSD clutch disks for better locking, but seems like TRE's 12 plate MAX lock is the better way to go, but it would cost too much to ship my rear diff to him and get it back.

Weir performance disc doe not have oil grooves, so should I stay away?

Thanks for your reply.

Mine is 03 USDM EVO 8, and I am the original owner. Brought her when I started to work here.

I thought TRE sold a package that allows the user to service their own differential. Basically Jon's custom Mits plates and some other parts. You do the work. $750 if I recall.

Yeah, that would be a bit too much, I think I can get Cusco LSD at about $810 when I visit Japan.

Looks like Cusco came up with disks with no groove (Spec-F), and they say it is milder than regular type-RS which has oil grooves.

Then maybe Weir performance kit might be worth the try? $210 price tag looks very reasonable after hearing $750 TRE DIY kit.

spec f? first I'm hearing of that. what is the benefit of no oil grooves, how does that make it milder?
