Hold onto your butts for this one...
date: 08/30/2016
year:2006
mileage:17,000
mods: fully build alum-rod 2.0, E85, 6466
HP: ~750whp

First time visiting mexico, did 3 pulls. On the 2nd pull I lugged it from ~3.5k in 4th(was walking a bike), 3rd pull it let go ~4k in 3rd.
We never found out exactly what the culprit was... after putting it back together we discovered 1 of the pumps wasn't working so we suspect it went lean and detonated. Next best culprit is probably wrist pin failure...

Mine isn't nearly as exciting.

Date: August 20 2017

Mileage: 100k (ish)

Mods: Bolt ons, 1100cc injectors, BBK B turbo, E85, Manley H beams and pistons

Power/torque: 404whp/405wtq

What happened: Nuked #4 rod bearing

Solution: Tore engine down and rebuilt it with new rod and bearings, ground the crank. Been running kosher since last week.

Why: Oil starvation through hard right handers

Here's the main bearings. 1 on the left, 5 on the right. You can see the starvation as it gets worse going left to right.

Here's the #4 rod bearings (they tried to become one) and rod

It's good that you caught it in time to save the block. The discoloration caused by the heat of the spun bearing on that #4 rod is scary.

Approximate Date: 1/2/2015

Year: 2006

Mileage: 40,000k km on built motor

Modifications: Built 2.0L, AMS 900x w/ PTE6466

Power: 550whp / 380wtq

What Happened?: Destroyed the block, piston and rod.

Solution: New block, 2.3L built now making 800whp

Why?: I was running a 6266 then swapped to a 6466, without altering the boost in the ecu (was a n00b).. The car was running 34psi on pump and it let go at 9000rpm.

That's crazy!! I have never seen a hole in a piston like that of the #3 cylinder.

lol I think Kevin was trolling me with those pics. Because I definitely don't recall seeing those massive gaps while the block was still in the car.

It could have been a wrist pin failure, because there is no signs of detonation on any other piston. I still have all pistons and rods.
