I have created this thread to simply share information, experiences, laughs, and knowledge based on ENGINE FAILURE ONLY. There will be ZERO tolerance for disrespect, making false claims, or name calling.
Please include pictures if possible as well as the year, mileage, modifications, power level, what happened, approximate date, solution, and why you think it happened.
To prevent total chaos, do NOT include your tuners name. This is not the thread for that.
I know there are A LOT of people on here who have blown their motor, so please contribute when you can .
Modifications: Stock Block, Full bolt ons, Dual map tune E85/91
Power: 430hp/414trq
What Happened?: Started the car in the morning and engine idled rough, still drove it to work. I got on it three times on my way to work and it blew on the third. Number 3 piston rod decided it wasn't happy inside anymore.
Solution: Ordered an OEM used long block and dropped it in.
Why?: Autopsy suggests spun #3 rod bearing due to long oil change intervals. (Mobile-1, 10w30). Engine always had oil pressure.
I object that mobil 1 is a "low quality oil" and I believe you are violating your own rule about making false claims. It is well established that 400lbs of torque is pretty much riding the edge of what stock internals can handle, and without any additional facts I just don't see how you can come to the conclusion that it was the quality of the oil that led to your failure.

Hey Biggie,
You're right and I apologize. Thanks for catching that for me
and Im sorry for being "that guy", especially at the beginning of such a potentially important thread. I just believe in order for it to be so the data needs to be as empirical as possible.

Notice that I bolded your statement of buying a MAP short block. That is what I was telling you to stop.
