Turbo oil return line
Turbo oil return line
I’m installing a stock frame FP green on my 2003 Evo 8. I wanted to know how do I install the return line to the turbo and to the pan? I bought two OEM gaskets and want to know which side of the gasket faces which surface and if RTV is needed? Any tricks also to installing the line when turbo is in the car? Thanks in advance.

When I fit the return line, I start the bolts that hold the return line to the turbo but I don't tighten them. Once that's done I'll start the bolts that hold the return line to the oil pan. When all 4 bolts are in, I tighten them.
It's also a lot easier if the turbo and manifold bolts can be left loose if you're doing a turbo swap or whatever. Either way, it's always a pain in the butt.

Thank you both for the replies. Both gaskets,I have are paper, not metal. The turbo is off the car but I already torqued them to the manifold thinking itd be easier to bolt the whole setup to the head in one shot. Each paper gasket has a white O on it so I wanted to know which mating surface do I put it on.
You can use the paper gasket on bother sides. Doesn't really matter which which way they go, they seal up fine.
Make sure you have the oring'ed washers for the bolts on the oil pan side.
They're easiest to get on if you get all the bolts started, then tighten them up.
