Other differences with the MR include a metal blowoff valve and a higher flowing and slightly lighter cat.

AMS has 3 versions to their kit planned.. and the lowest model might be the perfect setup for someone looking for near stock spool with a very nice bump in hp!

the #'s i'm giving for their kits aren't 100% correct.. and AMS will probably correct my #'s.. but it's fairly close to reality..

in order of hp capability (lowest to highest):

- GT32 (appx only 200rpms slower spool than stock!.. 450whp capability)

- GT30R.. or eq. to hks3037 (appx 400rpms slower than stock.. 500-550whp capable) ->>> this will be the best choice for anyone not planning on running higher than 25psi.. since it will do about the same hp as the GT35R at that psi!!

- GT35R (appx 600rpms slower than stock.. 650whp) -> for the really power hungry folks planning on running more than 25psi..

There are many people here in the UK that are running stock turbos (with mods) and are running around 400 bhp and similar torque. one guy had 420lbs ft at 2.3 bar off a stock unit!!!!!

Ps i will try and get some more info.

damn, 2.3 bar from stock turbo, that's gotta be unsafe, at least with our US spec turbo.

As I said I’m not 100% sure what they where running but I think it was just a ball bearing conversion on the stock turbo. If you can use one of the Ti ones then spool up would be around 500rpm earlier then with the alloy ones I would think. With the new bearing they are stronger anyway. I think it only costs 500 quid over here so for a turbo capable of around 2.0 bar (that is only in the mid range obviously) it’s a real bargain.

Just got a PM from one guy that builds the ball bearing units over here. He says that he uses new units with totally new cores with the new bearings in. I think it will be standard size on both sides and you just chose the stock turbo that you want. He also said that he doesn’t like to use old units (suppose there are less guaranties for longevity). No mention of cost though. It really is a good idea if you are looking for around 400bhp though. There was a guy with nearly 400 (restrictive exhaust) with only the basic mods (intake, exhaust, FMIC etc). Hope someone over there picks up on this as a cheaper and often more effective solution to a bigger turbo.

Thanks Chris.

Ps not sure on the AMS kit but hope its soon.

the Ti turbos on the JDM spec evo doesnt pump significantly more power but it definetly spools faster
