4g69 destroker questions

I have a 4g69 block (stock bore) and I'm considering building an 88mm (stock evo) crank, long rod MIVEC motor (have the IX head on hand) with expected 10K RPM redline.

If anyone has gone down this road, please post intel and parts used. I've seen many of the posts with 4g64 and 4g63 blocks. If you feel the need to tell me not to build a 4g69, please refrain from comment as I've most likely seen every nay-sayer post already on other threads. I know other blocks have been used more than the 4g69.

I expect about 4 replies, maybe less, but maybe more are into trying other options out there.

Why are you set on using the 4G69?

Because I already have an 88mm EVO crank, Evo IX head, and a 4g69 shortblock. I will sell or pitch the rotating assembly from the 4g69 and buy rods/pistons to work with the 4g69 deck height.

Isn't the 69 the same deck as the 4g63, but the bigger 86.5mm bore like the 4g64?

Seems like you would only be getting half the benefit.

Yes it's a short deck 2.4 - advantages are: block is tapped for MIVEC and no need to use adjustable cam gears or bore out for oversquare, long rod motor = high RPM for the turbo that I will be using (GTX3582R).

If there is a negative, I'm waiting to read about it. There are many issues with 4g64 builds and it seems like 4g69 would resolve some of them.

Thanks

The main issue with the 4g64 is the extra work to make sure the head gasket stays sealed. You will have the same issue with the 4g69. So with the 69 block, you're getting the head gasket faults but not the added benefit of being able to run a 162mm rod (not that it's needed).

Also, that turbo isn't going to need to rev to 10k. It will likely be done by 9500, if even that high.

4g69 is not 86.5 bore but 87mm bore stock... by the time you bore it to get oval cylinders with bore plate you are at 87.5 mm
Also, it is more open deck design... might not be what you need for high boost build..

I think the only issue is finding a good head gasket. Also, running it at 10K will require dry sump or ER underdrive oil pump pulley

actually I think g69 is a really nice choice as a basis for a stock rpm 2.4, 5-600 ish road car build..
