4G64 Destroker?

Does anyone have some more detailed info on the 4G64 setup. The idea is to use a 2.4L block and use a 2.0L crank. Thus making it a 2.1L.

-Head should bolt up
-actually everything should bolt right up

*If this has been dicussed before please attached a link and delete thread*

Thanks.

But just so you know there have been numerous problems with them not wanting to keep rod bearings for too long.

Are the rod bearings upgraded?

Ok here is the official update.

I slept on my two step and blew my engine. Sent a rod through the oil pan. disenegrated piston in cylinder #1. It also turn out that my valves and valve guides are done. So i there fore officially screwed everything.

The plan was to have my car back up and running before H.I.N Miami. That was before i knew the head was also screwed and was just planning on ordering a fully built short block and dropping it in. However my car wont be ready in time so there is no rush.

These are the mods that will be supporting whatever short block setup i go with. (Already have all parts except for valve train)
-PT6776R
-AEM
-Jun cams 272/272
-1000 cc injectors and fuel system / rail
-Tial waste gate / B.O.V.
-Ferera springs, retainers, valves and guides (basically whole valve train)
-and whatever other parts needed for 600+ reliable AWHP (those are just the major parts)

Now since i have no real rush to get my car ready for any event. I just want everything done right. I plan on using CP pistions and Pauter rods. I haven't decided if i am going to stroke it or just keep a stock bore.

I am really interested in the 4G64 setup but i just haven't been able to find more info on it.

Slowboy's 2.1s are the ones with reported rod problems. The problem is NOT in the inherent design of the motor, it's in the build.

If you want a bulletproof 2.1, call Magnus Motorsports, who "invented" the long rod concept in DSM and Evo motors. Magnus builds Brent Rau's motors (6.xx quartermile 4g63) and motors for their own cars, one of which won the Buschur Shootout Quick 16 and eliminated both the Buschur and AMS Evos.

AMS also builds destrokers reliably.

Slowboy seems to use hardened bearings but you are right if its a contiuous problem it may be a design flaw.

Magnus also offers a long rod 2.4L for the 4g64 which seems real interesting. BTW once you have the block you can have squirters and all the machine work done at http://mesabalancing.com/ which is located in hialeah.

That's what they're talking about. That's where 4G64 blocks and cranks come from. (3G Eclipses, 8G Galants, and non-Mivec Outlanders)
