Hot Head Temp?

Was feeling like my engine bay temps were running hot lately, so I took some measurements this lat autocross event, and after a general drive down the highway -

I'm seeing temps from 200 to 210 degrees when measuring my IR gun right between the letters MIVEC and TURBO - has anyone ever shot an IR gun here to see what temp it's at? 210 seems high... at autox it peaked to 220, and this was on a 40 degree day.

Has anyone ever measured this?

not sure on coolant temp i dont have an exact gauge, just the one in the cluster which was the same middle setting. seems hot for a head though doesn't it? autoxing, yes, but on a cool day.

FWIW, coolant recently burped, no change in temp, coolant gauge, etc.

If the coolant temp gauge didn't move, and there is coolant in it, it's fine. My coolant temp used to get up to 225-230* during a 60 second autocross run on the with the stock radiator and fan, and the stock temp gauge didn't move.

Also, you're measuring valve cover temps. Good bet the head is a decent bit hotter, especially around the exhaust ports.
