Alright guys heres the deal....when i turn my key off.....my battery disconnects from the rest of the car....as in without my key my door locks, map lights, high beams, headlights, blinkeres, hazards...wont work. I know the battery is getting disconnected because when i turn the key back on the trip meters are cleared.

If its helpful.....ive xtended my radio harness....as well as taken out the piece where the hazards and clock was (having to unplug them) But i have since plugged them back in.

Side note: EVERYTHING except the maplights and dome light work with the key on....

Kinda freakin me out....any ideas?!!?!

maybe its a dead battery or you have a short somewhere allowing it to discharge.

 

You could try physically disconnecting the battery and reset the ECU.

 

Make sure when you extend the radio wire, you hook up every wires right ! Double check the wires !!

 

a dead battery wouldn't allow everything to run with a key would it???
and k explain the disconnecting reset thing (how and why)

have you checked fuses yet??? that would be the first thing i would do... there is a fuse box under the hood and under the drivers side dash....

 

If the battery was run dead by a short, you would not be able to start the car....ie...put key in ignition and start it like normal....

This is likely caused by whatever mods you made to the electrics of the car...

 

fuses are good...and the only mod is adding length to the radio harness....(other mods have been running fine for long time....it seems it started when i changed a blown fuse (cig. lighter fuse). does that make anything arise???

 

Just take it to the dealer d00d. That should be covered under warranty unless one of your mods messed it up.

 

Could it have anything to do with my alarm systems wiring...idk if alarms tap through a live line that it could be "hijacking" so to speak....

New thought...In the service manuals it seems that the ECU controls everything that doesnt work for me the lights, door ajar light, reminder tones, headlights, door locks......what could be up with my ECU what are some thing i could try on my own before i go to bring it in???

Even though it works with the key could it be defective...this is really annoying grr

something new to note: with key the clock, warning tones, and radio don't work (radio buttons illuminate however)

 

Are you absolutely sure that when you extended the wiring that you didn't mix up any of the conections? (if you had to splice any of the wires) And when you plugged everything back in is it in the right place?
