ARP flywheel bolts question.
ARP flywheel bolts question.
I'm doing a clutch job..installing a xtreme twin carbon clutch in my evo 8, I'm planning to use the ARP flywheel bolts on it.
What I want to know is..should i use locktite on the bolts or the ARP supplied lubricant?
And with the ARP flywheel bolts the torque is still 99 ft pounds at the flywheel?

According to ARP's instructions on their site, loctlte is to be used on the threads and the lube is put underneath the head of the bolt.
The torque spec is on the instruction sheet for the kit as well.
Don't put too much lube underneath the head, too much will cause it to get slung out and will end up on the clutch.

If you open the package, there are instructions under the lube packet...
But, as ayoustin said, red Loctite on the threads, a bit of lube under the head of the bolt, and IIRC the torque is 90 or 95ftlbs. Make sure the threads in the crank are clean.

I've always used blue loctite on flywheels bolts (242). I hardly ever use red because it's a **** to loosen bolts with that stuff on it, often times requires heat.
Most OE flywheel bolts are reusable but the ARP ones aren't that expensive and it's just one of those places I don't try to save a few bucks if it can potentially put the engine at risk.

flywheel bolts are not "torque to yield".. they are reusable.
the arp ones are reusable also.
do not put the lube on the threads, only on the bottom face of the bolt head (the part that meets up to the flywheel).
use loctite blue
