I would go with the red, still pretty good spool up and can make very good power on e85 , though I see your in Connecticut which is very limited in getting e85. (I feel your pain lol) You can still make good power on solid 93 octane. I’m sure the gtx3071r isn’t a bad option too.

I would stick with the JB red MHI for stock like sound and spool up. It should make 420-450whp on pump and 500+ on ethanol

gtx3071 flows like an fp green and cost a buttload might be a more reliable turbo than an fp
id go with an fp red or try to find a deal on an hta green

I would say since you already have an Evo 9 hotside, you can drop in a 71hta CHRA with surge cover. I run that exact setup with S2s and full bolt ons. It is a really fun street car that pulls hard all the way to 8K. I make around ~440 dynojet at 26lbs on 98-100 RON with no lose in spool from the stock turbo.

I’m not sure that I will go with the MHI on the FP Red since it’s like 800$ more I was gonna go with the steel housing they offer and get all the stuff I need in order to make it fit on my downpipe. I was thinking about getting the 71HTA CHR but I want some room for the future in case I wanna go up in HP and e85 isn’t a option in CT the closes e85 pump is 2 hours away so it will be on 93 pump

The FP SS housing spools about 400rpm slower than the MHI housing. You'll spend $500-$600 on parts for the single scroll housing. Or you can spend $800 for an MHI housing with faster spool. Which makes the MHI housing a no brainer now that it's available again.

ATP turbo does make bolt on garrett turbos. They even sell complete bolt-on kits.

Yeah I know it makes Garret bolt ons just don’t know which one to go with. Oh so if I get the MHI I don’t need all their other stuff that they recommend to get in order to install well that makes sense. I wanted to go with a external wastegate would I be able to switch to that with the MHI housing or no. And it might be a noob question but what is the MHI housing the hot side ? Why can’t I just use my current evo 9 hot side is it the same 10.5. Thanks for all the help boyssss

Go with MHI housing easier and simple with better spool.

If you dont plan to do E85 just do hta71 however fp red are amazing turbo....they are gods gift to the evo world

awesome spool
make good power
affordable way to trap 135 mph

Spool up isn't much faster, maybe 50-100rpm. But transient response on the shift, or when you lift and then get back on the throttle is much better. You can solve the transient response on the shift by using no-lift-to-shift. So it kind of depends on what you're using the car for.

The stock Evo 9 turbo comes equipped with the 10.5 twin scroll hotside. FP upgrades and sells the stock Evo 9 turbo. They can rebuild your existing Evo 9 turbo into an FP red or whatever specification they sell. Alternatively, you can buy a brand new unit. That means they will receive a brand new Evo 9 turbo from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and rebuild it to run their custom CHRA.

They only receive a limited quantity of new Evo 9 turbos since the Evo is not produced anymore so the fact that they have new stock again is good news for those that wish to run virgin turbos.

I’ve decided to just go with the GTX3076r I’m not gonna be racing with the car just want a good looking evo that is a fun street car and if a sti pulls up next to me on the light I won’t be scared to lock it up lmao jk. But yeah decided to go with the 3076r how big of injectors u guys think I should go with someone told me to get the ID1700 to leave room Incase I wanna go e85 but I think that those are way too big for my setup. I was thinking more id1050x. Also any other parts u guys think would get me to the mid 400whp don’t hestitate to write a list. I also ordered the AEM cam gear but I read some forums and everyone says it’s usless for the IX so I might be returning that I thought it would go good with my s2 cams but I guess not.
