HELP: Weird donut gasket/adapter in downpipe?

Hey guys I was wondering if someone can help me
out bc I’m a little stumped at the moment. Long story short, I was changing out the DP donut gasket after changing to a new o2 dump. I pulled out the old gasket out, swapped a new oem donut gasket in (it kinda felt loose when putting it into the downpipe) and then realized I still have a leak. Well I look at the old donut gasket and
a) the old gasket went on top of an adapter (which I didn’t realize were two separate parts when frost pulling them out)
b) the gasket that went around the adapter is wayyy bigger than the oem one.

I have no idea what brand the DP is or what the brand of the old o2 dump was. The new dump is an xs power. Idk wtf is the issue because I can’t find a single thread or DP which even uses an adapter?? Any help on what to do would be greatly appreciated lol
Right now I’m rocking the adapter and busted old donut gasket because I didn’t want to ruin a new oem one. It’s leaking but not nearly as bad as with just the oem gasket in place.
Also, everything else is tight and spring bolts are fully tightened, no issues or leaks previously...

I don;t think you should be running a donut with an aftermarket DP. I just RTV'd mine to the 02 housing with high temp orange.

Just looks like you have the wrong size. I think I got mine off of ebay, or something. I run the donut gasket and the OEM spring/bolts and have never, ever had an issue with leaking. Maybe your o2 housing isn't actually 3". Sometimes they come in 2.5" (like the Titek on my car).

On that same exact dump I also had leaking problems with just the oem donut and even got another one just to rule out it wasn’t the donut gasket. But I did notice they included a exhaust gasket with the dump so I ran the donut gasket (I didn’t want to have the part lying around so just left it on) and exhaust gasket and never leaked since.

The only gasket I got was the gasket which goes from the dump to the turbo hot side :/
Has anyone ever seen a DO that requires an adapter??
Also how did you guys fit your donut gasket? I’d you just place it inside the DP or try to fit it on the the outlet of the o2 dump?

Can you take a picture of this "adapter"? I can't picture what it is that you are talking about. That may be were some of the confusion is coming from.
I put the donut in the downpipe, then GENTLY lift it into place. If you force it, the flange on the o2 housing will cut into the donut and ruin it. The donuts fall off the o2 housing (after a few seconds), so doing it that way can be a pain in the *** for me LOL. But either works, really.
Or, just hold the donut on the o2 housing with one hand, lift the DP into place, then toss the bolts in.

you can kinda see it in the pictures I previously posted, it’s actually the piece that the donut gasket is around in the pics. I’ll try to find a generic pic similar to it online because it’s on the car rn LOL

It looks like this but without the lip on top and a completely flat end piece. So imagine the old gasket on top of that and then the gasket facing down into the downpipe like normal

The gasket i got looks exactly like the 2 bolt exhaust flange gasket that bolts to the downpipe to cat/test pipe. You could try one of those and see if it helps but as for installing I did what kaj said on the donut gasket and used one bolt to hold the other gasket in place while pushing dp up toward o2.

I dunno. I see a cardboard box.. a piece of wood, an exhaust "donut" gasket, and a tape measure.

Green is the donut gasket, which is crushable and is composed of some sort of metal netting, just like the oem donut gasket (but this one is larger). Purple is the adapter, which the larger donut gasket sits on top of

I know Works has an adapter they use when mating their 3 inch downpipe to their o2 housing. Its bigger than that piece is. Yours looks like one i got from Autozone, that came with a thin sleeve in the moddle. Works is a true 3in inner diameter gasket and yours looks smaller. You need to get the inner diameter and find a gasket with the same if you want a snug fit.
