Exactly how are you grounding this?

My thoughts exactly. If you're running stock wiring and stock ECU you're limited to waste spark anyway, might as well stay on factory coils. With that said coil on plug setups do have benefits when running in direct fire, or one signal per coil.

Update

So sorry for the super late response. I added ground wires from fuse box to battery and firewall to valve cover. Blew out a coil in 3k again. I was looking at AutoZone for coils and it shows they have A ngk coil pack replacement with a 3 year warranty. Has anyone tried this brand of coil for the cop

What dwell times are you running, had a similar issue a while back, car would run for 3 or 4 miles then would shut down a cylinder, car would barely idle as it was running on 3 cylinders, if I switched off the ignition and turned it back on again it would run correctly again before losing a coil again, it's like they were heating up and shutting down. I mucked around for ages, changing coil positions, buying new coils (genuine Denso's). Eventually I got around to the dwell times, dropped them 20% and the problem went away. My issue isn't exactly the same as yours, but it might be worth a try.
