oil pressure dropping at high rpm

I have an Evo 8. I had no oil pressure issues till I had some work done on the car. Had a HG replaced and while the head was off I changed the springs and zero tick lifters. On cold startup in 75-80 deg temps the oil pressure is high 80-90psi, sometimes 100... As the engine warms up to 180deg oil temps at cruise at 3k rpm its around 60ish.. I notice when I go WOT though that the oil pressure is not going over 65-70 and then begins to fall and will go to around 45-50ish at redline. It used to always stay in the upper 80s-90 at high rpm prior to the zero tick lifters. I changed oil pressure sensor senders and still the same thing. Im just trying to hunt the problem down. Oil looks clean so far, no bearing material in it.

Can zero tick lifters cause pressure to drop at high rpm? I have the stock HLA. Ordered a kiggly HLA to see if that helps.

Thanks

If there's any moving parts in the sensor its possible that enough vibration could momentarily unload the sensor causing a duty cycle type of signal.

Only way to verify is to run a mechanical gauge and see what it says.

ya i did that. Mechanical gauge does the same thing.. Pulled the pan and girdle, main bearings are starting to wear down. Metal showing in the oil :-(

How did you get it fixed? New oil pump?

oil pump will not fix missing bearing material

no **** genius! But Im asking about original issue, the oil pressure drop that most likely damaged the bearings

just search, there is a ton of info about the short comings of the stock oil setup. The most likely cause is a damaged oil pump caused by oil starvation.

If youve pulled your filter and/or main and rod caps and bearings are shot you know the next steps. There is no easy fix.

sounds like the bottom of the oil pan got pushed up onto the oil pickup, starving it of oil flow.

I am inclined to think it is a pump issue as well and not a bearing issue. If bearing clearance was an issue I would think pressure would be low across all RPM since the resistance (bearing clearance) creating the pressure is fixed (doesn't change).

This...
Stock oil pickup is quite close to the bottom of the pan and if you bend the pan a little you will have a problem. Very few measure that clearance when assembling the engine..
