Clutch slippage or wheel spin??

I barely ever beat on my car, but lately I have been 👍🏼 I was driving around town and noticed every time I did a 3rd or 4th gear pull (in boost) the rpms would shoot right up... I did a 5th gear pull on the hwy, doing about 45-50ish and it didn’t shoot up like the other gears. I’m currently running a exedy triple disc, that I rebuilt back in Feb. 2017. I’m going to check my tire pressure in the morning to see what they are at. Just wanted to hear what you guys thought. Thanks

Btw, the car runs and drives fine. Doesn’t act up under normal driving.

I would think you would notice if you were lighting the tires up in 3rd gear. How much power are you making?

Sounds like slippage.

I have both, if the 8-leg (race version) grabs I have wheel spin, if the 8-leg does not grab, there is clutch slippage.

Both events have similar characteristics, the difference between the two is that on clutch slippage rpm shoot up but the car barely moves, while on tyre spin, the rpm also shoot up but the car moves much more than when the clutch is slipping.

The car makes 510whp and 420 torque. I’ll try to get a log today.

You're not spinning 3rd or 4th at that power level unless the road is wet.

Also, why do you have an exedy triple for such little power?

may first I was thinking my tires had too much pressure and it was 50 degrees outside as well.

I make those numbers on low boost on pump gas, with E and 37psi I make 792 👍🏼

+1 on logging speed vs rpm. If you have an old viscous center, you could be spinning just the front or mostly just one tire. But its not too likely your spinning 4th.

After further investigating and different tests. It is definitely clutch slip. I just rebuilt this clutch a little over a year ago and maybe have 3 track passes and maybe a handful of street passes. Im going to take it apart and see what’s going on with it. If I have to replace it, I’ll probably end up going with the 8 leg setup
