radiator fan control module

Whats up everyone? I have an evo 8 with a half rad and slim fan. The fan has been on a manual switch since the previous owner cut the connector for the module. since then i found a module and connector. got everything wired up and it doesnt work however the hi fan kicks on. is there a fuse or anyway to check it is getting power. i have the 3 wires to the big connector going into the module and two wires from the fan to the module. am i missing something?

There is no high and low temp fan. Just one fan for the rad. There is an accessory fan for the condenser but if you've got a half rad that's gone.

meant the big fan on the left of the rad kicks on.

i have a stm half rad kit... and i cant even remember how i wired up mine.

i know it comes on tho when the ecu calls for it to run.
i think it only runs one speed.... and thats wide open.

I'm pretty sure the fan is variable speed. The fan module cycles between low voltage and high voltage, the speed of the fan determined by the amount of time spent at each voltage.

the fan module has 2 speeds, you can select between them in the evoscan actuators section to test the module.

The ECM judges the required revolution speed of cooling fan motor using the input signals trans-mitted from A/C switch, vehicle speed sensor and engine coolant temperature sensor. The ECM activates the fan control module to drive the cooling fan motor. . . FSM

Also
The fan control module has variable control of the cooling fan motor speed using signals transmitted from the ECM. . . FSM

Does this mean two speeds? This is how it is explained in the manual.

Well yah the module itself is pwm driven i believe, so it could be variable speed. I guess the 2 speed thing just comes from my interpretation of evoscans different actuator settings. I have never attempted to scope the signal myself to determine if the ecu uses more then 2 different pulse widths.
