2.4l stroker evo 9 mivec head questions.

With the evo 8 head i know you use 2 adjustable cam gears to time the 2.4 with the evo 8 head. With the evo 9 intake cam having mivec what do you do? Im using the 4g63 belt. Any info would be amazing!

Step 1- Do the Mivec Gear mod. JohnBradley has a thread on it here (it's old and buried, will need to search), or send the gear to English Racing for them to do it.

Step 2- Follow the instructions from AMS for the 2.3rr install. It used a 4g64 block.

The John Bradley 2.2L build has a post # 115 that explains how he modified the MIVEC cam gear for his build. It is a lengthy article but very informative.

You don't have to modify the mivec gear and you don't have to get adjustable. Can just use all stock and advance both gears 1/2 tooth. Just an FYI

You don't have to. But you lose advance by not doing it.

I prefer the Mivec gear adjusted the other way as I posted recently. Here's what I do and why.

The mivec is going to be a point of preference. Some prefer to advance it (as you have shown) which then changes your actual range of Intake cam to around +2.5 to +32.5 from the factory -1.2 to +28.8. I chose to go the other direction and pull away the 3.75deg because I wanted the low end to be able to get back to 0 and was less concerned with the map area that can benefit from the higher advance ranges.

So mine is the opposite direction or -5.0 to +25. When you decide which direction you're going to change things, you need to make sure to go into the maps and adjust the MIN, MAX, and your maps if you have values outside of the achievable range. If you don't, you'll get a MIVEC code.
